Leavers of London Protest covered in the Guardian

"Outside, a few dozen pro-Brexit supporters had staged a counter-protest, greeting the queue of remainers with placards bearing slogans such as “Full Mettle Brexit Now”. “We know that they’re going to be calling for a second referendum, which they will dress up as something else. We believe that a vote has already happened,” said Lucy Harris, one of the organisers of the counter protest"

It's hard being a Leave voter in London" - Lucy Harris writes for Spiked-online

"I never suspected, when I put my tick next to ‘Leave’ on my ballot, that the fallout from Leave’s win would be so visceral. It is worrying that there has been so much antagonism towards Leave voters. Old ladies, MPs and Leave donors sent death threats; people reporting the break-up of relationships; people having trouble at work and getting abuse online..."

Founder of Leavers of London writes for BrexitCentral;  'Shy Brexiteers? Not us Leavers of London!"

"You’ve heard of the shy Tory, but have you heard of the Shy Brexiteer? If you’re reading this, perhaps you yourself could be one… but I can assure you, it’s not helpful to the Brexit cause. I’ve been coaxing Brexiteers out of their closet for over a year now, and it’s made me a great believer that coming out as Brexiteers will secure us the best Brexit."

"Brexit voters were some who, at a glance, might have seemed surefire supporters of Remain: young, well-educated, city-based, affluent social liberals who defied the odds - or the Brexiteer stereotypes - to cast their ballot for Leave.  Among them were ethnic minority voters, undermining the caricature of Brexiteers as ignorant uneducated racists."

"But as a nation, we have voted Leave. And we must persevere on the decision of the Leave vote, to uphold the very notion of our freedom to say no. It is our civic duty as a free and democratic people to do so. "

Leavers of London interviewed on the BrexitCentral podcast by Darren Grimes

Darren Grimes - "I also speak with Lucy Harris of Leavers of London, a group who’s raison d’etre is to give London’s Leave voters a voice – remember, there are more of them around than there are Londoners who backed Sadiq Khan and Lucy’s efforts to give Londoners Leavers a voice are incredibly admirable. "

Theresa May’s Government have the positive, outward-looking, vision of a global Britain – open to trade, talent and international security – but why has it not won over public opinion, secured business confidence and gained goodwill from the EU?

"Sadiq, more Londoners voted Leave than voted for you" -  Lucy Harris writes for Spiked-online

The Labour Party conference promised to be a hotbed of Brexit controversy, and we’ve not been disappointed. Labour’s equivocal Brexit stance has led to a neverending pageant of conflicting statements. But London mayor Sadiq Khan became Labour’s foremost anti-Brexit voice this week.

"We're in for a bumpy ride, both sides" Leavers of London founder Lucy Harris speaks to the Associated Press for The Mail Online

Lucy Harris thinks Britain's decision to leave the European Union is a dream come true. Nick Hopkinson thinks it's a nightmare.
The two Britons - a "leave" supporter and a "remainer" - represent the great divide in a country that stepped into the unknown just over a year ago, when British voters decided by 52 percent to 48 percent to end more than four decades of EU membership.

Lucy Harris, who set up Leavers of London, said the EU referendum was about citizens exercising their democratic rights before blasting those railing against the Brexit result. She said freedom from Brussels bureaucracy was the most important factor for quitting the bloc. The campaigner told Express.co.uk: “The question is if we were to never have voted this way we would have been rich slaves, but now we’re going to be slightly poor but free. “And I think that living that freedom is so much more important than anything         else.

As a cosmopolitan, metropolitan half-Scottish young woman who is pro-immigration and speaks fluent Italian, Lucy Harris does not fit the classic stereotype of a Leave voter.
But the 25-year-old from Haringey, a passionate advocate of quitting the European Union, is hoping to show her fellow residents of the capital that people who voted for Brexit are “not all monsters” by launching a support group called Leavers of London.......

Lucy Harris believes Brexit backers represent such a minority in the capital they have been routinely denounced as "anti-immigration closet racists" by those not sharing their views.
She set up the Leavers of London group in an attempt to end the stigma by changing perceptions and showing other leave voters they are not alone...
